Responsible balloon use & the environment
There are concerns regarding the negative impact the use of balloons has on the environment. It is our commitment to provide our installations and deliveries in a thoughtful, informative manner in order to reduce or even eliminate the chance of our work causing damage to our precious earth and animal inhabitants.
Latex balloons are 100% biodegradable when disposed of correctly.
Never leave your balloons in an outdoor environment such as a park or backyard where they could become a hazard to birds or wildlife; they should always removed them and either taken home for further enjoyment, or disposed in a prompt and thoughtful manner.
To dispose of balloons properly:
Pop or deflate the balloon using a pin, blade or scissors
Remove any attached strings or decorations and retain for re-use
Cut the balloon neck and body into several pieces and place into your bin
If you are unable to responsibly dispose of an installation or delivery from Popette Studio, please advise this when placing your order, or contact us and we will arrange for a collection at an additional cost.
Popette Studio will not supply helium balloons without weights attached, nor provide helium balloons for any form of balloon release. The impact of balloons released into the atmosphere is catastrophic to the environment and especially hazardous to seal life. All customers who request helium balloons are provided with this information and instructed about proper disposal of balloons after their use.
Helium, while non-toxic, can be harmful or fatal when inhaled due to inert gas asphyxiation. We do not condone or support this behaviour. Helium balloons are supplied as decorative elements only, and require thoughtful and responsible disposal.
There are also many alternatives to helium balloon decorations, such as reusable sticks and cups, stands and wall-mounted clusters. We would be more than happy to suggest an alternative for your celebration.
